In thirty years, the thrill of a find has never changed. There’s always another one out there.

David Chassard picture

David Chassard is a second-generation jewelry dealer. His father, Alain Chassard, founded Templier in Monaco in the late 1980s. The gallery quickly became one of the French Riviera’s leading addresses for antique and signed jewelry, with clients that included Fred Leighton, the celebrated New York dealer known as the “King of Estate Jewelry.”

Alain later established himself in Paris as a dealer and expert in signed jewelry, particularly recognized for his knowledge of René Boivin and Suzanne Belperron. At Hôtel Drouot, he was part of a close circle within the trade alongside Édouard Brunet, of the historic Maison Templier, and Michel Périnet, a widely respected figure in the Paris jewelry world whose personal collection was sold at Christie’s Paris in 2021.

David worked alongside his father before leaving for New York in 1996, where he joined Paul Fisher Inc. as an apprentice. A sixth-generation New York jewelry house with longstanding roots in estate and signed jewelry, the firm personally trained only a small number of international dealers under Paul Fisher himself. It was there that David deepened his expertise and laid the foundation of his New York network.

He returned to France in 1997, first working in Monaco before moving to Paris in 2000, where he opened an office near Hôtel Drouot with his sister, Emmanuelle Chassard, a recognized expert in collectible and signed jewelry. In 2006, they co-founded La Galerie Parisienne on rue de Lille, which quickly became a respected address within the Paris trade. When David settled permanently in New York in 2010, Emmanuelle continued the gallery on rue de Seine, where it remains established today.

Thirty years in the trade, including more than fifteen in New York, David now operates independently from his office in the heart of the Diamond District, working exclusively with dealers, experts, and trusted professional relationships developed over decades. He remains among the few dealers in New York specializing in French signed jewelry and hallmarks — and one of its most trusted.

David has always valued partnership. It is central to how he works and how he likes to do business.

The trade has evolved enormously over time. Information is more accessible, archives are easier to consult, and expertise more visible than ever. Yet its essence remains unchanged — a world still built on trust, experience, and the kind of handshake that continues to carry meaning.

Every piece begins with an illusion — a first impression, a detail, a feeling that something about it deserves a closer look. Sometimes that instinct proves right immediately; sometimes only after years of experience. The excitement lies somewhere in between.
